My feet are throbbing, I’m drained and ready to put my feet up after a day visiting the UK’s favourite fashion buying destination!
I hadn’t been to Pure London since working in the ethical fashion industry so I was very excited to go along and see what trends were being forecasted for Autumn/Winter 2013. So ………. what I learnt from wandering around 1000 traders today is that the fashion for A/W 2013 is going to be (drum roll please!) 50′s, 60′s, 70′s, 80′s 90′s and the naughties. A line, knee line, maxi, mini, tweed, knits, burlesque, urban chic, furs, zips, lace, layers, sequins, floral, ethnic. Infact anything goes! Sounds familiar? Didn’t really see anything that caught my eye and made me think that’s really unique and individual. The main reason I was there though was to see the ethical brands and that was wonderful to see the big name brands showcasing their eco collections. So well done to Braintree, Komodo, People Tree to mention a few. They were far and few between though and not easy to find so I’d have liked to have seen more ethical clothing. We are still very small in comparison to the mainstream fashion industry but we are growing and we are being heard ….. we need your support and we need to talk louder. Fashion doesn’t need to cost the earth!
