About Emma

I dedicate this to my children, Alice and Dylan, my inspiration.

Isn’t it funny where life can take you if you listen carefully to the signs you are given. My story of how I came into the Ethical Fashion business is not a clear path but when I look back, I can see that all past events were all coming to this point in my life.

I graduated with a Bsc (Hons) in Environmental Science from Hertfordshire University and proceeded to work in politics and local government administration.

I then trained as an aromatherapist in London and so was able to work part time within the environmental field and part time complementary therapist. It was a very healthy time for me as I was able to pursue both my passions in life.

On my travels, I met a woman who ended up becoming a trusted friend and was a key player in getting my job as a complementary therapist with a cancer charity. Working with people with cancer was a very humbling experience and one which I will never forget. Ironically at this time, my family entered an extremely difficult phase. We lost our mother to cancer and then our father struggled for five years after with Parkinson’s till he passed away.

We also lost three other members of the family over the course of the next few years. Some expected some totally unexpectedly but nonetheless very difficult.

So what changed it all for me? My children. In 2007 I had my first child, Dylan and in 2010 I had my baby girl Alice. I was a full time mum for a few years but then it was at the point of separation from their dad in 2011 that hemp clothing came into my life.

I discovered the Nomads website through a search for massage clothing and faced issues trying to purchase the clothing online, so I thought why not import it myself? I loved the whole catalogue and the idea of selling organic and fair trade clothing and so BohoHemp was born. I do feel like I have had another child, I am completely obsessed and I never stop talking about it, you could say I have fallen head over heels in love with hemp!

What life has taught me so far is that we only have one life and who knows when that will be taken away from us. So take the opportunities life presents and run with the wolves. Be kind, respectful and authentic to each other and towards the planet.

A very big thank you to all the amazing support I have had over the years, mum, dad, gran, to my lovely sister and brother, Mike, Cat and Jem for their consistent and reliable support and to the lovely new people in my life. I couldn’t have done this without you all.

Thank you for visiting BohoHemp’s online shop. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Take it easy
